*Global Soil Scientist - St. Louis-MO-USA*

*Description*

Monsanto Global Corn Breeding group is seeking a highly motivated 
individual with the ability and the passion to work as a member of 
Global Environmental Modeling Team.  The candidate will work to improve 
our ability to develop and deploy superior commercial corn products by 
improving the understanding of testing environments, GxE, and the 
within-field variability and developing tools that enable the 
organization to exploit this knowledge systematically.


*Primary responsibilities* are to

·integrate the public _world_ soil information to Monsanto Environmental 
Modeling platform

·quantify the within-field soil-profile variability using the 
state-of-the-art technology

·determine the environmental collection among testing sites/regions 
_across the globe_

·apply GIS, remote sensing, spatial statistics to facilitate global 
yield testing

The candidate will also establish and maintain appropriate linkages with 
other teams and in specific the Global Corn Breeding Organization. 
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.

*Qualifications*

**

*Requirements:*

·PhD in soil science, or related sciences

·Post-doctoral or applicable industrial experience is desired.

·Strong background in soil science, environment modeling,  GIS and 
remote sensing applications, and spatial prediction methods

·Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

*Key Competencies*

·Ability to work with team members as well as independently 
("self-starter")

·Results orientation with ability to deliver on short-term goals while 
simultaneously advancing longer-term strategy and goals.

·Leverage critical thinking to develop innovative analytical 
tools/analysis in this emerging area of environmental modeling

**

*Preferred Skills/Experience*

·PhD in soil science

·*Expertise in proximal soil sensing and high resolution digital soil 
mapping *

·Knowledge of G-by-E and computer programming would be an advantage
