Take a look at the Klett-Perthes maps at http://www.geosmile.com/

They have a South America wall map,
physical/political, scale: 1:8 M, size(inches): 45x57, for $115 (and
up, depending on mounting).

and a huge one   scale: 1:6 M, size(cm): 172x205, size(inch): 68x81,
for $339.
