Greetings from International Student Life at the University of Georgia.


Today a number of people's individual email accounts AND office accounts
at the University were attacked by a virus.  Please know that ISL staff
had NOTHING to do with this virus and had no control over it.  The virus
that went out today attaches itself to email lists and automatically
sends messages to everyone on that particular list WITHOUT the knowledge
of the account owner.

So that you can better protect yourselves (and your email accounts),
please note that the ISL staff sends out ONE listserv announcement per
week during the regular school year.  (IF it is a very special
occassion, we MIGHT send two emails in one week, but that happens very
rarely.)

Also, we do NOT send attachments through the ISL listserv.  If you ever
receive an ISL email with an attachment, delete it immediately.
Furthermore, if you receive an email from ANYONE (even your best friend
or someone you have not spoken to in a while) with the following subject
titles, DELETE them (because they are viruses):

We thank you for your patience as University computing staff and
personnel work through these problems.  For your computing safety, we
also recommend that you keep as updated as possible regarding new
viruses and E-worms that are prevalent on the internet.
