: Faculty Scholar Appointment
This message has been posted to MapHist, Maps-L and Geograph.
We are pleased to announce the appointment of Matthew Edney
as Faculty Scholar of the Osher Map Library and Smith Center for
Cartographic Education of the University of Southern Maine. Dr. Edney
received his Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in
1990, where he worked principally with David Woodward. For the
past five years he has been a member of the Department of Geography
at Binghamton University (State University of New York), teaching
cartography, computer cartography, and historical
geography/cartography.
Dr. Edney will join us this fall as an associate professor
in the departments of Geography/Anthropology and American and
New England Studies, sharing his time between the Osher Map Library
and teaching in historical cartography and geography.
