This week's announcements from International Student Life - Improving
Student Life.

Reminder:  Please note that ALL international students MUST file tax
forms, even if you did not work in 2002 and arrived in the U.S. on or
before December 31, 2002 at 11:55 p.m.  Additionally, if you have
received a W-2 from UGA or another institution DO NOT THROW IT AWAY!
Even if you have a tax treaty and do not have to pay taxes, you still
MUST file the appropriate forms!!!  Call ISL at 706-542-5867 if you have
any questions about taxes and for information concerning how to get help
filing the IRS forms.

International Student Life events

1.   International Student Life invites all UGA International Students
and their dependents to come to the Final General Tax Workshop of the
2003 tax season.  This workshop is based on WALK-IN appointments and
students will be served on a first-come, first-served basis (i.e., no
reservation needed).  ISL will provide the appropriate tax forms for you
during the session. This workshop will be on Sunday, March 30, 2003,
from 11:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m., in the Memorial Hall Ballroom.

Students participating in any portion of the ISL Tax Assistance Program
should plan to bring the following documents with them:

W-2s for the 2002 tax year
1042-S for the 2002 tax year (if applicable)
Passport and Visa
Calendar and exact dates in the U.S. for the past SIX years
Social Security Number or ITIN (individual tax ID number)
Previous year(s) form(s) if applicable
A calculator

Please plan to arrive on time and bring all appropriate immigration and
tax documents with you.  ISL will provide you with the necessary tax
forms during the session.  (See list above for more information about
which documents to bring with you.)

2.  Contact ISL for an individual tax appointment IF you are a UGA
international STUDENT.  Email [log in to unmask] to schedule your
appointment.  Leave days and times that you are available or a tax
appointment.  (Not specific a specific day and time).

3.  UGA International Students AND J Scholars/Researchers:

File on-line from HOME or anywhere in the world via NRA- Ware (a tax
software program purchased for UGA usage by ISL and the Office of
International Affairs.)  Pick up a form from the International Student
Life Office located at 210 Memorial Hall for instructions and passwords.

4.  ISL invites you to our Fifth International Street Festival on
Saturday, April 5, 2003, on College Avenue in downtown Athens  from
12:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.  International music,  performances and
displays.  Free prizes! And, as with most ISL events, everything is FREE
of charge!!!

5.  This week's Campus Coffee Hour will be sponsored by the European
Student Association and The Bridge to Grady mentoring group.  Friday,
11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. in the Memorial Hall Ballroom.

6.  The deadline of April 25, 2003 is fast approaching to sign up to
participate in the International Graduation Ceremony.  You may also
adorn your robe with a beautiful international sash (optional) designed
in colors of your country flag, the deadline to order a sash is
Wednesday, April 4, 2003.  Contact ISL for further information.

7.  Celebrate a night of African dance with Adaegwu (UGA's African dance
group), poetry, and a reception at the Chapel on North Campus.
Thursday, march 27, 7:30 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.  Free Admission.

8.  Celebrate a night of African cultural diversity with the African
Student Union.  Dinner, dancing, speaker, poetry.  Admission $5.00.
After party 12:00 a.m. - 2:00 a.m. -- entrance with stub from show and
dinner only.

9.  Celebrate a night of Indian culture with the India Student
Association.  Saturday, March 29th, 6:30 p.m., Georgia Hall.  Tickets
for the event will be sold at the TATE PLAZA (Outside UGA bookstore) on
Tuesday, March 25 and Wednesday March 26 from 11.00 am to 2.00 pm.
Members: Dinner - $7:00, Show tickets free.   Non-members Dinner & show
- $10.00. Show tickets only 5:00.
