This week's announcements from International Student Life - Improving
Student Life.

Reminder:  ONLY TWO WEEKS LEFT FOR THE 2002 TAX SEASON!  Please note
that ALL international students MUST file tax forms, even if you did not
work in 2002 and arrived in the U.S. on or before December 31, 2002 at
11:55 p.m.  Additionally, if you have received a W-2 from UGA or another
institution DO NOT THROW IT AWAY! Even if you have a tax treaty and do
not have to pay taxes, you still MUST file the appropriate forms!!!
Call ISL at 706-542-5867 if you have any questions about taxes and for
information concerning how to get help filing the IRS forms.

International Student Life events

1..  Thank you to all that came out to the tax Workshop on Sunday, March
30.  It would not have been a success without you.  If you have not
filled out your taxes contact ISL for an individual tax appointment.
There are only two weeks left for this tax advising season and
appointment space is limited!   IF you are a UGA international STUDENT.
Email [log in to unmask] to schedule your appointment.  Leave days and times
that you are available for a tax appointment.  (Not specific a specific
day and time).

2.  UGA International Students AND J Scholars/Researchers:

File on-line from HOME or anywhere in the world via NRA- Ware (a tax
software program purchased for UGA usage by ISL and the Office of
International Affairs.)  Pick up a form from the International Student
Life Office located at 210 Memorial Hall for instructions and passwords.

3.  Celebr-a-t-i-o-n time, Come On!  The Fifth International Street
Festival is THIS Saturday, April 5, 2003, on College Avenue in downtown
Athens  from 12:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.  Enjoy International music,
performances and displays in a festive atmosphere.  Bring your family
and friends, share in the cultures and the fun! Free prizes! And, as
with most ISL events, everything is FREE of charge!!!

4.  A great way to get in the festive spirit for the International
Street Festival. Let's celebrate Carnival with the Brazilian Student
Association and the Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies!
Friday, 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. in the Memorial Hall Ballroom.

5.  The deadline of April 25, 2003, is fast approaching to sign up to
participate in the International Graduation Ceremony.  An intimate
ceremony for you, your family and friends!  Please contact the ISL
office at 542-5867 for more information.

6.  You may adorn your graduation robe with a beautiful silk
international sash (optional) designed in colors of your country flag,
the deadline to order a sash is THIS Wednesday, April 4, 2003.  Contact
ISL for further information.

7.  Thank you to Adaegwu, the African Student Association and the Indian
Student Association for your great efforts and excellent performances on
the Annual Spring Show and Ethnic Nights 2003 on March 27, 28, & 29
respectively.  You all did a great job!  We look forward to next year!

8.  It's time once again to start planning for the Fall 2003
International Student Orientation (Archway to UGA).  We have an exciting
week of events planned for the new students from August 4 - August 8,
2003.

Currently, ISL is looking for approximately 25 UGA students to volunteer
as our 2003 international orientation leaders (also known as World
Leaders).

If you or any of your friends are interested in finding out more about
being a World Leader and the events planned for international
orientation, please plan to attend a short interest meeting on
Wednesday, April 9 (the week after the Street Festival) at 5 pm in the
ISL lounge (210 Memorial Hall).  Call ISL at 542-5867 if you have any
questions.
