International Student Life events
=================================
1.  October 10, 2003.  International Coffee Hour.  Join the Japan Club and
Athens First United Methodist Church as they host this week's coffee.
Explore the island of Japan and enjoy the culture.  Free cultural
experience, food and drinks.  Coffee provided by Blue Sky Coffee.  11:30
am - 12:30 pm in the Memorial Hall Ballroom.

2.  October 18, 2003.  "Truly SouthEast Asia Ethnic Night: A night of
cultural paradise."  Come join the Malaysian Student Association, the Thai
Student Association, the Indonesian Student Association and the Filipino
American Student Association for a night of delicious home-cooked dishes,
dances, performances and all things fun. Tickets are $5 for students and $8
for non-student.   Date: October 18th, 2003 (Saturday).   Venue: Tate
Center, Georgia Hall A&B.  The doors open at 6 pm. Tickets are available at

3.  The 2nd Annual World Cup Soccer Tournament sponsored by ISL and the UGA
Student Government Association will be held on Sunday, Oct 26th, 2003, from
10 am-5 pm.   Pick up your application to make your World Cup team at the
Tate Info Desk - the winning team will be rewarded, and the top two teams
(no matter who wins) will compete in a rematch during International
Education Week!  A flyer for the event can be viewed at

4.  If you are a December 2003 Graduate, you are invited to participate in
the International Student Life Graduation Ceremony.  The Ceremony will be
held on Friday, December 19, 2003 at 3:00 p.m.  Participation in the
ceremony is free.  Call the ISL office at 542-5867 to sign up.

5.  Adorn your graduation robe at the ISL graduation ceremony with a
beautiful international satin sash, elegantly designed with your country
flag and colors.  Orders must be received by Friday, November 7, 2003, for
December graduates.  Contact ISL for prices and to view pictures, 210
Memorial Hall 542-5867.  (For an additional fee you can also have the
University of Georgia on the other side of your sash, see ISL staff for
information.)  Order your Sash today!


Other University Events

1.  October 11.  A-Huda Islamic Center is hosting an Open House for the
Athens community and University affiliates on Saturday, October 11.  There
will be many workshops such as "Islam in the World", "Islam in Life", "Islam
as a Religion", etc. which teach about various aspects of the Islamic way of
life.  There will be short feature film presentations, discussion groups and
many other activities.  Free lunch and dinner will also be provided.

2.  Run/Walk for Wishes.  5K race Nov. 8th sign-up @ Take Plaza Bake Sale
Oct. 8-9 10-2 pm.  Sponsored by Wishmakers on Campus.

3. UGA Study, Work and Travel Abroad Fair. Sponsored by the Office of
International Education. Representatives from various study, work and travel
abroad organizations will be on campus to share their international
offerings with UGA students. Tuesday, October 7, 2003.  10:00 AM - 3:00 PM.

4.  Concert: Athens 411. Sponsored by WUGA-FM.   First concert in a new
series for WUGA-FM and Georgia Public Radio.  Headliner: British
singer/songwriter Robyn Hitchcock; also featuring L.A.-based band Dengue
Fever, Athens-based folk singer Madeline Adams, electronic band Green Lawns,
and funk ensemble Tenderness. Tickets: $5; available beginning Thursday,
October 9, Morton Theater Box Office or by calling 613-3770.   Doors open at
6:00 PM, concert at 7:30 PM. Morton Theater, downtown Athens. Contact:
