I took a photo of a dowitcher today that I'm
calling a Short-billed, but it may well be a male
Long-billed. I have the image up on my site. To
locate it use the keyword "ShortBilledDowitcher"
or "D2x-SanDigitoRiver" (for the days shots).

If it helps, the bird was solitary, except for a
Least Sandpiper feeding nearby. The water would be
fresh and salt water mixed, as the channel is
open to the ocean tidal flow. None of the images I
took show the bird's tail or the upper coverts.

TIA,
