NOMINATIONS SOUGHT FOR THE 1994 DARTMOUTH MEDAL
The Reference and Adult Services Division's (RASD) Dartmouth Medal
Committee is seeking nominations for this award honoring "achievement in
creating reference works outstanding in quality and significance." The term
"creating reference works" may include (but is not necessarily limited to)
"writing, compiling, editing, or publishing reference books" or providing
"information in other forms for reference use" -- such as computerized
databases. The primary requirement is that the work had to "have been
published or otherwise made available" during 1993.
The award is a bronze medal designed by Rudolph Ruzicka and donated
by Dartmouth College in Hanover, NH.
TO SUBMIT A NOMINATION
To nominate a reference work for the 1994 Dartmouth Medal complete a
short nomination form, which is available from the committee chair:

Nominations not submitted on the form must be sent to the committee
chair, at the address listed above, and include the following information:
1. Title
2. Author or editor
3. Publisher
4. Name and address of nominator
5. A brief statement supporting the nomination
The deadline for all nominations is December 15, 1993.
The Dartmouth Medal Committee will meet at the 1994 ALA Midwinter
Meeting in Los Angeles to select a winner. The medal will be presented at
the RASD Awards Ceremony during the 1994 ALA Annual Conference in Miami/
Miami Beach.
