Back from the DSSAT workshop in Muscle Shoals and Michigan State University,
I send this message again because many of you could not read it

     Attached is an announcement for a research scientist or a postdoctoral
position in sustainable agriculture in the Collaborative Research Project 192
(Sonderforschungsbereich 192)' Optimization of cropping systems concerning
to maximize production and minimize negative external effects' in the
Institute of Crop Science and Plant Breeding at Germany Christian-Albrechts-
University in Kiel.
The person holding this position will be located in Kiel, GE.
Kiel is one of the major technological centers in Schleswig-Holstein in the
very North of Germany.
The person recruited for this position will validate/modify crop growth
simulation models and needs to be familiar with soil analytical procedures
and precision agricultural techniques.

JOB DESCRIPTION
 
Position Title: research scientist or postdoctoral fellow
Collaborative Research Project 192
'Optimization of cropping systems with respect to maximize production and
minimize negative external effects'

Application review will begin 09/05/97 and continue until the position is
filled. The position should be filled in July 1, 1997 and run next to
December 31, 1999 possible until December 31, 2000 or 2001 .
 
FUNCTIONS:
Supports the ongoing research in computer modeling of sustainable
winter oilseed rape (canola), wheat and barley production systems.
 
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Conduct field experiments.
Collect information on winter oilseed rape growth parameters.
Analyze soil for plant nutrients.
Add appropriate additional codes to computer models.
Other duties as assigned.
 
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS  AND ABILITIES:
Crop physiology/soil science/agronomy
Crop growth simulation models.
Soil analysis procedures.
 
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Applicants should have a Ph.D. degree with specialization in crop
physiology/soil science/agronomy
or
related disciplines.
