Our Office in the Summer
 
This office will be open all summer for students to see advisors and to
visit the study abroad library. If you have any questions/problems while
you are abroad, you can e-mail us at <[log in to unmask]>. We would like to
keep in touch with you while you are abroad and once you come home, so
please send us your hotmail addresses. For those of you going abroad
this summer, have a great trip!
 
 
Summer Internship with the British Council
 
The British Council is an international network for education, culture
and development services, sharing British expertise and experience with
the United States and more than a hundred other countries.   They are
seeking an intern for this summer with an interest in education,
marketing and communications or international relations to assist in
promoting British education in the US and in working with British and
American institutions to promote educational exchange. The position is
20 hours a week, carries a stipend of $600/month, and is located in

Fulbright Scholarships
 
The 2000-2001 Fulbright competition has begun!
 
May 1 marked the start of the 2000-2001 competition for Fulbright and
related grants for graduate study or research abroad in academic fields
and for professional training in the creative and performing arts.
Fulbright grants provide round-trip international travel, maintenance
for the duration of the award, a research allowance and tuition waivers.
Travel grants and other related grants are available as well. All grants
include supplemental health and accident insurance.
 
Who is eligible for Fulbright grants? Applicants must be U.S. citizens
at the time of application and hold a bachelor's degree or its
equivalent by the beginning date of the grant. Creative and performing
artists are not required to have a bachelor's degree, but they should
have four years of relevant training or study. Fulbright candidates in
medicine must have an M.D. or equivalent at the time of application. All
applicants should have sufficient proficiency in the language of the
host country in which they propose to carry out their study or research.
 
The deadline to turn in Fulbright applications at UGA is October 4,
1999. Applications will be reviewed on campus before being forwarded to
the national level. For more information and an application, contact

International Jobs
 
The newest issue of Current Jobs International has arrived and will be
stored in our study abroad library in 209 Barrow Hall in the long-term
jobs section in a notebook called "International Job Ads". We also
received the most recent issue of the International Educator, which
lists job openings in different fields in international K-12 schools as
well as colleges worldwide. It is stored in the red bin on Teaching
English.
