Dean:
I'm not sure I can provide a step-by-step solution to your problem. But
recently I used Xbuild to form a FileX file for cotton that ran simulations
for 30 years (1975-2004) at four different weather station sites ( TXPV,
TXCB, TXMU, TXSM). The resulting FileX file is included below and seemed to
work. Maybe the steps below can provide some clues to how you might solve
your problem.
On General Information Screen -- Other than File Type = Experimental, I
don't think there is anything critical here to producing a Filex file that
runs many years over with different station data. I specified the crop
(Cotton), the dimensions of a 1 acre plot, various comments, etc.
Simulation Options -> General: Set Years = 30, Runs =1. Set year to first
year of data (i.e., 1975 in my case). I also added 3 more levels for a total
of 4, with description = "Default Simulation Control". Not sure this was
necessary, but the resulting COX file seemed to work. Also defined
Simulation Start Date and Start = "On Specified Date".
Environment -> Fields: For each weather station I added 3 levels, for a
total of 4. (one for each station). For each station:
-Associate each level with a corresponding weather station. After adding
the level right click on the button to the left of the 'level' field. When
you do this a black arrow will appear on the button, and the green title in
the Level area with change. In the Description field to the right of the
level field enter the corresponding 4 character station ID (i.e. TXPV, TXCB,
TXMU, TXSM in the COX file below).
- With Level N selected in the Level list (Black arrow visible) select the
corresponding weather station on the scroll-down weather list. If the
weather data is loaded properly via WeatherMan, the name should be on the
list and the corresponding Station ID should also appear.
- Enter the Field ID , e.g. TXSM7500, in the field ID field.
When finished the correct met stations and station ID's should appear when
you right click each level in the level list.
Treatments - On the Treatments Screen you should see 4 levels with the
correct station ID in the description column. Right clicking on the 'Field'
column of each level will make a drop down list appear with the
corresponding Station ID. Set each level to its correct station ID and
integer identifier.
Not sure I know how to fix the year ID problem you describe, maybe someone
else on the list can help with that.
