Dear MAPS-L folks,
The Stevenson Science and Engineering Library at Vanderbilt University is dispersing its map collection.
We would like to offer our maps to other libraries with map collections. All that we ask is that the receiving institution pay for the shipping. Most of the maps we have to offer are folded maps in different categories. Unfortunately, we don’t have the time or help to inventory each set so we prefer that the receiving library take as many of them as they can. The map collection here was assembled from departmental collections when the library was formed in 1975. Although not heavily used, and rarely with a dedicated map librarian, the collection was lovingly collected over the years by researchers and librarians. All boxes are banker’s style boxes and are mostly full.
• Geologic maps from various U.S. state geological surveys – 11 boxes
• Geologic maps from various countries – 10 boxes
• Geologic maps from Canada- 10 boxes
• Geological Society of America maps – 2 boxes
• Set of folded maps of individual countries – this was purchased as a set – 2 boxes
• National Geographic Magazine maps – this is a fairly extensive set of NG maps collected in retirement by one of the original science librarians at Vanderbilt- 3 boxes
• Ontario Geologic Maps – 6 boxes
• Highway, national and state park, and other misc., maps – 3 boxes
Thanks so much for your consideration. If interested or have questions please let me know. I’m sorry that we can’t provide an inventory.
Best,
Rick Stringer-Hye
