4. Annual Holiday Spirits Museum Mile Tour
Saturday, December 11 at 5 PM, 6 PM, and 7 PM

The Athens Historic House Museum Association has added yet another exciting twist to its Holiday
Museum Mile Tour for the holiday season this year. In addition to the museum theater
performances at the Ware-Lyndon House and T.R.R. Cobb House, an additional historical vignette
will also be performed at the Taylor-Grady House. Classic City Tours offers regularly scheduled
tours of four historic homes throughout the year, but on December 11, a special holiday edition of
the Museum Mile Tour will be presented. This festive tour will take participants to the Church-
Waddell-Brumby House, the Taylor-Grady House, the TRR Cobb House, and the Ware-Lyndon
House to experience guided tours, historical vignettes, musical performances, and a holiday
market.

The highlights of the tour, of course, will be the three short museum theater performances
presented at the Ware-Lyndon, TRR Cobb, and Taylor-Grady Houses, respectively, by the Rose of
Athens Theatre. Each vignette is set during the Christmas holidays; the Ware-Lyndon House
vignette, "Christmas Spirits," is set in 1858 and the T.R.R. Cobb House vignette, "Tis A Gift To Be
Simple," is set in 1855. The Taylor-Grady vignette, "A Standing Invitation" which is as of this
writing still in production, will be set in the 1880s. Each vignette will have audience members of
all ages imagining what these grand homes must have been like at various points during the
Victorian-Era in Athens. Together with playwright Shannon Rood and director Lisa Cesnik
Ferguson, the vignettes will be performed by Rose of Athens core performers Danielle Bailey Miller
and Jeremy Miller, as well as numerous other community actors.

The Holiday Museum Mile Tours will depart from the Ware-Lyndon House on Saturday, December
11 at 5pm, 6pm, and 7pm. Tickets are $25 per person for adults and $15 for children under the
age of 10. Tours are limited to 25 participants per tour, so you are encouraged to reserve your
seats early.

For tour reservations, please call 706.208.TOUR (8687). For more information, contact Amy Clark
at the Athens Convention and Visitors Bureau at 706.357.4430.
