A number or folks have expressed disbelief that the indisputable specimen of
Lambis crocata var. pilsbry Abbott, (as imaged on the Man and Mollusc
(http://manandmollusc.net/) and conch-l images
(http://geocities.com/conchlimages/) home pages) is in fact from the Zanzibar.
Well, it is: the collector is someone who is not an expert, nor prone to
practical jokes, and only collects in Zanzibar - and has no need to trade. So,
this then represents an extension of range of the width of the Indian Ocean,
which last time i checked, was quite a distance!
Question: does anyone know of other such curiously large extensions of range
discovered recently?
Warm Regards from a cool place (actually, the high for all of Canada yesterday
was 21 C (no idea what that is in American) in Calgary - lots of snow further north!),
