Dear Conchlers,
I have some trouble with a Cone-shell. About 2 years back I made tradings
with Emilio Garcia
and got a very very nice juvenil cone with the name Conus puncticulatus
from S. Marguerita Island
Venezuela. For me it seems to be a juvenil Conus purpurascens. It has a
fine brown pattern with
some stripes and pointings on a blueish background. It is juvenil and from
the shape more
C. purpurascens than puncticulatus. Puncticulatus must have a whitish or
yellowish background.
Does Conus purpurascens exists there.
Any informations are very appreciated. I have a Conus purpurascens from
Taboga Islands from
Panama, but I couldn't find it in the atlas. Is this Panama Caribique or
Pacific. Both Conus are
in the museums collection.
with best shelling greetings
Helmut
