Hello Valerie,
Karen Couch, who is the best authority on unionids I personally know, gave
me the same ID for your shell as Harry did below. Just wanted to let you
know.
Best,

Dear Valerie,
It appears to be the Ebonyshell, Fusconaia ebena (I. Lea, 1831). The deep
cavity under the pseudocardinal teeth is said to be diagnostic, and I think
I can see that feature.
I take it you don't know the locality where it was collected.

Dear Conchers,
Can anyone help me out and I.D. the shell at the following URL

I think I have narrowed it down to one of two shells but further assistance
is required, so I decided to come to the smartest group I know.
I bet Paul M. can tell me what it is.
Regards to all
