A slight correction to my previous post...Web publishing is not acceptable
for describing a new taxa per se. The taxon can be described in a web
site but it is the deposition of the CD-ROM, etc. in the reference
libraries that makes the name official. There is an electronic journal
Palaeontologia Electronica which has published descriptions of new taxa on
a web page, with a CD-ROM version of the journal available for purchase.
They also send copies of the CD-ROM to several libraries, thus fulfilling
the requirements of the Zoological Code. Sorry for any possible
misunderstanding.
