Hello Thomas,
In case you might not know, the Clench by whom and after whom all those
mollusks were named was Dr. William J. (Bill) Clench, who served as Curator
of Mollusks at the Museum of Comparative Zoology at Harvard University in
Boston from 1926 until his retirement in 1966. He was the founder and
editor of the malacological journal Johnsonia, and author of a great many
articles and publications. He was more into land snails and fresh water
mollusks than marine species, but did publish a fair number of works on
marine mollusks as well. Dr. Clench was much loved and admired by all who
knew him. He died in 1984, at the age of 86.
Regards,
Paul M.
