There is one definition in
http://hbs.bishopmuseum.org/publications/pdf/bm-tp41.pdf, "A Compendium of
Zoological Type Nomenclature: a Reference Source", a very complete list
prepared by Neal Evenhuys of the Bishop Museum.
His definition is:
Hypotype: A specimen, other than the type, upon which a subsequent or
supplementary description
or figure is based (syn: apotype, heautotype, plesiotype).
I am sure there are variants out there.

Hi all,
having met the term "hypotype", I looked for it in my ICZN copy
without finding it and I had a similar result searching ICZN on line.
Now I wander if this "hypotype" has an official relevance in the
nomenclature or not.
Thank you all
Enzo
