Marlo,
>Smaragdia viridis has been found regularly, including this year, as far north
>along the Florida east coast as Sebastian Inlet. In the early 1980's Strombus
>gigas was found as far north along the east coast as Jupiter Inlet (no
>longer), but can still be found today as full adults at West Palm Beach.
Not surprising, considering the Gulf Stream influence. I was speaking about
the west coast of Florida. The Florida loop current circulates around the
Gulf of Mexico and doesn't get near land on the west coast - just on its
north end.
