Hey! Who had the hidden camera in my lab???
I swear some days this is exactly what I do. I no longer use ink.

Marcus that is too funny. Walter Sage, who named a few shells used to say,
if you think it is new to science, take it out to the driveway and run over
it. LOL I feel all of your pain. I started writing the Peanut Island and
Lake Worth Lagoon, Shells book about 8 years ago. Every time I go to update
it, either through first Malacolog and now WoRMS, I have to change, change
and change again.
But, there is more and more being known. Perhaps in another 300 years it
will all be worked out. Too bad we won't be here to see it. Happy New Year
Everyone.

There is no way to keep everything updated to the last publication,
otherwise you will spend more time with your files than with your shells... you
can use WoRMS http://www.marinespecies.org/aphia.php?p=searchwebsite to
check the most important changes.
Not even museums update everything - I would suggest only changing the
families you really like. We (Femorale) follow some changes, but keep Cypraea
as Cypraea and Conus as Conus since it is much easier to handle thousands
of shells. If you are specialized on these families then you can use all the
other genus.
And just for fun....
