Could someone clarify/answer the following questions re; Born's
description/publication for Polymita picta?
Born 1780, Mus. Test. Caes. Vind., p. 386, plate 15, fig 17,
(Helix picta).
1) Is the year cited correct?
2) What is "Mus. Test. Caes. Vind."?
3) Is it Mus. Test. or Test. Mus. ?
4) Is it Vind. or Viad.
Later,
Emilio,
Just a preliminary answer. The citation is "Test. Mus. Caes. Vindob."
From Rerum Naturalium
Musei Caesarei Vindobonensis
Part 1 Testacea.
I think it was printed over several years as I have Pectens with Born 1778
and 1780. Either that or other authors got confused as to the correct date.
There weren't any photos or plates that I know of, he just used the plates of
others and referred to them. At least I think so.
Hope this helps a little
