Lemme make a controversial statement about oil; in other words, I'd like
to say this about that.
Most shells don't need oil. The ones that especially don't need oil are
the ones you keep in nice dark drawers and don't expose often to light.
The ones you maybe want to oil are critters you're getting ready to show
or have on some permanent display. Cones and Volutes are among the
oilables. Olives and Cowries, unless pretty old, are generally shiny
enough without. The only way you can oil Latiaxis and a lot of Murex is
to dump them in a bucket of oil---very messy.
Now this is going to sound hideous (but it's Halloween) so what the---.
Anyway, you might try rubbing a finger along the bridge of your nose.
Some facial oils are naturally secreted and can be used on small shells.
By Tiger Woods! It really works! Do not try unless you are a natural oil
secreter.
