Credit Approval Forms

If you are planning on studying abroad this summer or during fall or
academic year (and you don't plan to be around this summer), now is the
time to hand in your Credit Approval Form. That's the beige form that
you probably received in an Options Abroad Session. If you don't even
know what this is, please make an appointment with a study abroad
advisor by calling 542-7903. This form informs UGA that you will be
studying abroad, allows for pre-approval of transfer credit, allows you
to see how classes will transfer in, and allows you to get your
financial aid. Once you hand it in, get a copy and take it to financial
aid. This form is only for students going on non-UGA programs or UGA
exchange programs (UNO Innsbruck students must also fill it out).

Orientation Packets

Students who will not be able to attend any type of orientation for
their summer study abroad program, or who want some extra materials to
help them plan for their trip abroad are welcome to come pick up a
"Study Abroad Passport" from the Study Abroad Library in 209 Barrow
Hall. They are blue packets on the travel section shelf and contain
information on Passports, Air Travel, Health, Safety and Legal Issues,
Insurance, the International Student ID Card, School Tips, Phones,
E-mail, Customs, Shipping, Culture Shock, Reverse Culture Shock and
Metric Conversions.

E-mail while Abroad and Forwarding Arches E-mail

The easiest way for students to use e-mail while in another country is
with a free Hotmail account. Simply go to <http://www.hotmail.com> to
set it up, then you can check it at the Hotmail web site using Netscape
or Internet Explorer from any computer hooked up to the internet. You
can also forward your arches e-mail to that account while you are away.
To do that, telnet into arches and select Option 4: Account Management,
the choose Option 4 again : Mail Forwarding, and type in the address to
which you want your mailing forwarded. To undo the forwarding, just do
the same thing. Please send <[log in to unmask]> your new hotmail address
when you get it.
