I don't want to sound anti-american and don't accept my remark as such, but
you are influenced by your national sports in your choices. I also agree
that Muhamed Ali was not the right choice, not because he was or was not the
best boxer, but because boxing is not, in my mind, an adequate rep for
athleticism and sports. By choosing him, they have, inderictly, recommended
violence, ruthlessnes and crime (Don King) as a life motto to future
generations (if you get the drift), which is pretty much the way things are
done in life (politics) today. One only has to look.
My heart is with Carl Louis. He has marked two decades of athletics in which
he was more or less unbeatable. In his last Olympics, he won every final he
raced/jumped. Simply, when I came across the question in the newspaper, his
image just popped up into my mind first. And he had a personality to go with
his body. A great person.
