Is anyone knowledgeable about the Chamidae of Florida and Caribbean waters,
I need some advice. I bought several Chamas from an interesting source,
found in a fish trop off the Isle of Guadeloupe in 150 meters. Some were
named Chama Florida Lam. 1819. These shells were solid pink, red, yellow
and orange and did not particularly resemble the Florida specimens which
are invariably mostly white with pink dots and occasionally with pink or
rose scaly ribs. two of the Guadeloupe shells were also whitish with brown
ribs and markings. Granted, that you can't ID a shell or not ID a shell by
color alone, these look different to me and I wonder if any one can pin
down this name of the Chams "Florida" for sure on the Guadeloupe
specimens.

Thanks
