A comment was made that the American Malacological Society will be holding
its meeting in 2001 along with Unitas and the meeting will be in Vienna.
It was stated that this is the first time that AMS will be meeting outside
the United States. The first statement is true, the second one not so.
This will be the first time an AMS meeting is held outside of North
America. In 1938 the meeting was held in Cuba and in 1939, 1960 and 1967
the meetings were held in Canada (both independent countries). I felt
that this slight factual error needed to be corrected and our colleagues
in Cuba and Canada deserved the recognition due them.
