Hi Ross and all,
I also have a specimen of Placopecten magellanicus from Italy in my
collection, obtained some years ago.It is about three quarters of an
inch.
Maurice Lucas wrote about this species and its presence in the
Mediterranean in 'La Conchiglia' in 1979 (XI No.128-129).
The article is part of a series, The Pectinoidea from the European
coasts. genera Chlamys, Placopecten & Manupecten.

Constantine.
