It seems Nancy Smith's question on melanism got overlooked.  None of our
real experts has responded so I'll give a less authoritative answer.  Yes,
Nancy there is melanism throughout the mollucsan world.  I don't know how
common it is but certain species seem to be more susceptible than others.
I've seen it in olives and heard of it in a number of species.
