In the meanwhile I came across a datasheet of the Canadian Food Inspection
Agency,
where Helix aspersa is listed as occurring in Lower Mainland B.C. and indeed
Vancouver Island
( www.cfia-acia.agr.ca/english/ppc/science/pps/datasheets/helaspe.shtml )
This data sheet includes good pictures of Helix aspersa.
