The Cypraea brood the eggs until they hatch.  If taken off they usually will
search for the eggs again if left in the area.  If they are uncovered for very
long, they will be eaten by other shells or fish.  This is from experience of 30
years of aquarium research.  If the cowry is very hungry she may eat some or all
of the eggs herself.  Or if they are disturbed she may eat them also and lay
some in another location.
