I am currently using a clear plastic box with the hinge and snap
arrangement you
described, in the 4x7x4 size from Wal-Mart. It's a tackle box, and the small
plastic wall inserts allow for custom arrangement inside the box of various
compartments.
The shells can be clearly seen, and my labels, placed upside down under the
shells,
can be clearly seen through the bottom, also.

Needless to say, they are not expensive. I can't remember the price, so I
can't say the tackle boxes can compete with the boxes from Althor...but
knowing me,
I wouldn't have bought them if they were costly!
