About 5 years ago I (along with Aton Oleinik and John Slapcinsky)
compiled a list of mollusk collections from museums around the world.
For each collection the general information (name, address, phone
number, etc.) were given along with a short description of the
collection (major taxonomic groups represented, geographic scope,
type specimens, etc.) was also provided. To get an idea of the kinds
of information posted see:
http://www.inhs.uiuc.edu/cbd/collections/mollusk_links/museumlist.html.

At that time Tom Waters suggested a similar posting or web site of
personal collections. I thought that was a great idea, but it sort
of stopped there. I think that such a list would prove useful. If
there is interest I could "volunteer" to put something similar
together for private collections. This might take a few months but I
would eventually get it together.

Any interest?
