You might want to consider dedicated label makers.  Some are stand
alone, others will interface to a computer.  They sell for as little
as $50.  See http://www.brother.com/usa/label/label_cntr.html.
There's another company besides Brother that makes them but I don't
recall what it is, but Brother seems to have the largest selection.
