The United States Postal Service (USPS), now uses the designation "Letter-post" as catch-all term that encompasses international mail formerly categorized as LC, for Letters and Cards, and AO, other articles (small packet airmail).

When a package is sent via "Letter-post", it must weigh 4 pounds or less, and be under a certain size (I believe the total length, width and height of a box must be under ~36 inches), as were the restrictions for the former AO mailing.

The new air mail designation came during the last USPS rate hike. Expect another rate hike very soon. Unfortunately, the cost for mailing packages to overseas destinations from the United States is not as cost-effective as it used to be, especially when a box weighs more than two pounds. So when sending shells, make sure you send "decent material", avoiding the necessity for people to shell out an inordinate amount of money to return unsatisfactory material ! >:-|

Dear shell traders and dealers,

Is $14.00 really the lowest cost to send a 1/2 pound package from the US to
overseas? That rate is the US Postal Service air parcel rate--the surface
rate is, ironically, a few more dollars.

Am I overlooking something?
