Dear debbi;
The Atlantic ribbed mussel lives in brackish water (don't know if it can
tolerate normal sea-water salinity for long), usually intertidally, in
and on mud or silt substrates- either 3/4 or so burried, or attatched to
stones or shells such as Crassostrea. It prefers a habitat very rich in
organics, such as a salt marsh. So far as culturing goes, it seems to
be able to tolerate a rather crowded condition, so it should be
possible.

                                                                                                        Cheers,
                                                                                                        Ross M.
