Hello Conchlers: I'm looking for anyone interested in helping with a
translation project.
A while back you may remember that I published my first children's
book called "Sammy's Adventure". When I first thought of this project and I
enlisted my personal friends to help me produce this story, I only had in
mind that it would be available on my Man and Mollusc web site
(http://www.manandmollusc.net) as an educator's aid. The story and its
accompanying artwork turned out so good, I decided to publish it as a
softbound book.
This is the help that I am presently seeking. I would like to have
the online version of "Sammy's Adventure" translated into as many languages
as possible and placed on my web site "Man and Mollusc" in the Teacher's
Zone". This of course would be a free service to educators. I have never
charged for any of my site's materials and I don't plan to do so.
I do however, sell a fully illustrated, soft bound, 32-page version of
the story. For more details, you can see my flyer at:
 http://www.manandmollusc.net/sammys_adventure_promo.html . "Sammy's
Adventure" may never be a big money maker and actually has cost me BIG bucks
to produce.
Where a bit of commercialism might come in from this project is that I
would like to offer translations of "Sammy's Adventure" if requested by a
purchaser. This would be supplied at an additional nominal cost to the book
purchaser. I'm thinking along the lines of about $2.00 CAD a translation.
This money I would be willing to split with whomever was the translator of
that specific language. These translations would be just printed out from
my own home computer and included with the actual purchased book.
I cannot promise that this will be a moneymaker for anyone involved
with the project. I can however tell you that you will be giving educators
a valuable service by helping to make this story available in other
languages for them to use in teaching their students. Children around the
world who visit my site would also benefit from such a project.
"Sammy's Adventure" is really quite a fun, educational story and has
some fabulous original artwork done by my friend's sister. This artwork is
not available in the free online version of the story.
I do hope to publish future books, again with my friends, all in a
children's series each introducing a new mollusc. Whether or not
translations will be offered has not yet been decided. A lot will depend on
if I find translators for this first book. These next stories will not be
placed on Man and Mollusc as I will have to eventually recover some of my
money and I realize that as along as the book is on the internet, sales will
never amount to their full potential.
