Dear Art (and others),

The gastropods of the trochid genus Bankivia and related genera, known from
Australia but also from the Red Sea area (Rob Moolenbeek), live buried in
sand and have no eyes at all (see Hickman & McLean). Full stop. I guess
there is not much of a need for them in an environment where you can't see
anything anyway. I can only suppose they feel for oncoming danger, and they
also avoid being eaten by living in vast colonies
