Tom Eichhorst reported,
> Lister (1681) called it, Nerita subviridis lineis capillaceis.
In English, that would be, more or less, "Greenish Nerita with hairlike
lines." Stunningly brief, but it's good to keep in mind that Linnaeus
designed his first system to fit on one large page and always tried to keep
it brief in subsequent expansions. He advised that diagnoses be no more than
13 words long. Thus, to understand what Lister (or Röding) meant by this,
one has to look up the contemporary diagnosis of Nerita as well. This is a
good practice even today.
