The body of this work is a nomenclator of gastropod family-group names.  The
smaller part is what the authors label as a "working classification of the
Gastropoda."  This is a "new arrangement" only in the sense that it is
primarily a synthesis of recent classifications.The classification is fully
annotated explaining placements.  It is stated that it will be modified and
updated in future editions to be posted electronically.

This work is an extremely important compilation for persons working with
taxa above the genus level.
