Dear Cone Lovers,

Over my many years of collecting these wonderful shells one thing has
always puzzled me. Why are there specimens that are granulose and others
that are not, even though they are the same species?

I have granulose specimens of a number of species:

Conus arenatus
Conus aurisiacus
Conus chiangi
Conus circumcisus
Conus legatus
Conus magus

to name a few.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

All the best,

Jim Cootes
