Sarah, it is illegal to scan other people's work and post it on your own
website without permission of the copyright holder, who may be the
publisher, the author, an heir, or a buyer of the copyright. And under
current US law, virtually all material written in the last few decades is
copyrighted whether or not a copyright notice is placed on it. Now for the
good news: Government publications are usually in the public domain, having
been paid for by the public. It is good ethics to acknowledge the source
even if it's free. And permission is easy to obtain from some sources,
especially if you want to reprint an older work instead of something that a
publisher is currently trying to sell. Don't be shy--ask them!

Some of the things I have found most useful have been access to online
journals that are directly linked with malacology. I can't find any FREE
ones
except HSN. I am trying to set up a similar thing on my website and it
hasn't
been working too well (with my limited HTML capabilities ). I was wondering

or will I have the feds banging down my door in a few weeks. ( parental
