Sorry about that last post--I hit "Send" too soon!  While _Turbo
petholatus_ is not streamlined, it is quite smooth!  Most cones are
sand-dwellers I would think, although some live in coral and coral
rubble.
 
Art, is your question more related to smooth surfaces or an elongated,
streamlined shape?
