Dick the information I gave was all I have. It was on the ticket that came with the shell. If in fact its not a Buccinum, that may well be the reason I cannot find it. It did not even state a date. I used the name Buccinum to search,not the letter B.

I would appreciate a reference for Buccinum tricostatum Tiba, 1980.  The
shell illustrated as B. tricostatum Tiba on the web site gastropods.com is
B. trescostatum Tiba.

If there is a "Buccinum tricostatum Tiba" it is invalid as that name was
used by Molina in 1810.

Since you state that both exist off Japan, I would appreciate a reference to
Tiba's description.
