I've often reflected that even though the Philippines must be the most
thoroughly collected, conchologically-speaking, corner of the planet,
there still seems to be quite a number of areas and islands in this
surprisingly large country, which are still quite under-represented with
regards to the material that actually makes its way into the mainsteam
of "the Shell World", via the Usual Channels. For example, when was the
last time you saw "collected in the Babuan Islands (Luzon Strait) on a
label??
My question for the list is: if you could get an opportunity to
collect in any area or island of the Philippines which you consider to
be "under-collected", where would that be? Also, a corollary seems
obvious: which islands or areas do you think are most likely to produce
interesting conchological surprises and seldom-seen delights?
When i say "areas", these could also be ecolo-systems and habitats
seldom collected, as well as geographical designations.
