Dear David,

Strombina is only known from the eastern Pacific, the Caribbean and West
Africa. Records from other places are most of the time big Mitrella's which
are taken for Strombina's. Your shells will probably be Mitrella ligula or
Mitrella albina.

Pacific columbellid mavens,

Does anyone know of any Strombina species in the central Pacific? I've
got some 18 to 20mm specimens from Ahnd Atoll in Micronesia (near
Pohnpei). To my naïve eye they look similar in shape to Strombinas from
the eastern Pacific or lower Caribbean. These could be Mitrellas I
guess, but the overall shape is elongated and with a thickened outer
lip which is slightly shouldered anteriorly and posteriorly.
