This shell comes from West Mexico. We collected it in Guaymas, Mex.

Subject: Locality of a Vasum

Hi, Everyone!

I am trying to pin down the location of Vasum caestus (formerly Muricatum).
Eddie Hardy's site has the range of this shell as the Gulf of California.
However, I have a picture of a specimen with the location of Sand Blas
Islands - in the Caribbean. This is quite a difference, unless the species
exists on both sides of the Panama Canal. Can anyone enlighten me?

Thanks,
Linda
