For me, if it seems to be a natural event it is good for the collection.
Drilling, teeth marks (:-) , and wear and tear.  Not all shells live in nice
coral sand that floats around them.

Clams that grow from within are really a catch all of other clams and worms.
Some of the complex surface clams - flutes and such snag egg clusters and
floating or drifting shells in storms.  That is the beauty of some of
this, not
everything is pure and clean.
