Dear Conch-lers,

In order to meet the goal of publishing two volumes (eight issues) of
quarterly journal The Nautilus during calendar-year 1998, the Shell Museum
has so far published seven issues of the journal this year. Volume 111
(issues 1-4) was published between January and May, and volume 112 (issues
1-3) between July and October. Volume 112 issue 4 is scheduled for
publication in December. Some highlights of these more recent issues
include papers by D. Geiger on the names and valid species of abalone
(genus Haliotis), a revision of the "dwarf periwinkle" genus Peasiella by
D. G. Reid and Y. Mak, a survey and study of corals affixed by carrier
shells (genus Xenophora) by N. Feinstein and S. D. Cairns, several
descriptions of new species of worldwide mollusks, and other topics of
interest to professional malacologists, students, and advanced shell
collectors. Subscriptions of The Nautilus are $28 for individuals and $45
for institutions, payable by check or credit card to The Nautilus at the
Shell Museum address. Back issues are @20 each. Please contact me at the
address below in case you need more information about the journal. The
Nautilus is a not-for-profit journal published by a not-for-profit
institution.
